So, as some of you know, I had a bit of a problem !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! yesterday. That was nothing compared to today.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The Honda Odyssey, a decent minivan with a good engine. Just like most cars nowadays, they don't expect you to do much work on it yourself, so in the manual they don't give great directions on how to change bulbs.
The first bulb my dad and I had to change/wiggle was the front driver's side parking light. It was just loose, so after a bit of stupidity, we finally got it out and put the bulb back in it's slot nice and tight. Easy enough.
Then we had to change the rear passenger's side brake light (well, the brake light worked, but the light that's on when the headlighs are on was out. It's the same bulb as the brake light so we had to replace that.) We check the manual, and it says you need to take the entire rear side light assembly out. Alright, how hard can that be?
Well...we broke it. The manual said to remove the screws holding it in, and then just take it out. So we pull straight back on it...nothing. We pull sideways...nothing. We pull diagonal and wiggle it....nope. How the crap are you supposed to take this thing out?! Well we just kept pulling until what do you know, some plastic snaps. GREAT .
After breaking it, we did manage to get it out. Apparently, you just had to pull straight back as hard as physically possible . Seriously, we fell backwards when it came out. I was pulling on it and my dad was pulling on me (lol), it was stupid. So then we actually got the bulb out and replaced it. Luckily, that wasn't hard.
We then bagged up the bulbs and washed and waxed the car because it needed it.
After that we figured that gluing the broken plastic together was the best idea (and cheapest). Tried hobby glue. Didn't stick nearly as well as needed. Tried some stupid strong solvent glue, which worked great, but got everywhere and looks tacky. Oh well it's a minivan.
Finally the bulb saga was over.
and here's a shiny picture of the nicely waxed paint.

I was also in the family vehicle bulb replacing business tonight. Side marker and license lamp out on the wife's CX-9.
Sorry, mine was super easy.....
Two screws, whole lamp slides off that big black round clip without needing to pull. Licence lamp COULD have been done from the outside, but I went in through an access panel in the hatch just in case, unplugged it and popped it out.

Do you know how long it takes to change a bulb on my Scion? 5 minutes, and I was taking my time making sure I did it correctly the first time.
In the Kia that I owned? A week. I tried to replace it, couldn't get my hand or arm into the space that I needed to get them into. As you need a hand and arm to replace a bulb, that was a bit of a poser. Well, I did my Cirqe du Soleil routine and ended up with my hand in the space where no hand shall go...and the cap won't unscrew. I really can't torque it, because no room, but the little torque I can get makes me strip off a couple of the plastic fins on the cap.
The next day, my dad comes over, and we have to engineer a fucking device to twist off the cap. That works, but guess what; the device inside is also partially broken, and once we replace the bulb, will not snap back into the lamp assembly. Fuck you South Korea.
So we take it in, the repair guy has trouble, finds out that he needs to replace damn near the whole lamp assembly, and that takes the rest of the week to get in. Also, Kia parts are never cheap for some reason, so this ends up costing us a lot of money. I can't even remember, but that was the first move in the Kia's attempt to slowly bleed me of my sanity.

You could probably spray/paint that glued-together area and see if it looks any better.

My dad doesn't care, so nor do I. It's the minivan, it's not my car lol.

The trick is to insert a flat head with a papertowel around it between the front edge of the lens and the body. The use the leverage of the screw driver to push the lens straight back. Once it moves the first eighth of an inch, it's loose enough to just pull put. I've done both sides on my 06.
Definitely should be info included in the manual.
